Jayson’s love of photography began at age six, when his Aunt Susan gave him his first camera—a Kodak 110.
As a child and teen, he enjoyed photographing travel scenes, wildlife, and landscapes. While attending Virginia Commonwealth University, Jayson enrolled in a photography class and discovered a talent for capturing human connection through portraits.
Determined not to ruin a beloved hobby by turning it into a business, Jayson and his wife, Rachael, eventually launched Jayson & Rachael Photography in 2011—sparked by their own less-than-positive experience with their wedding photographer.
“Jayson & Rachael Photography started from a desire to treat others the way we should have been treated.”
Jayson initially focused on weddings and engagements, but in late 2014, he made the decision to shift his focus to family portraits—allowing for more time with his own growing family.
Today, Jayson and Rachael are proud parents of three beautiful children, and Jayson works with nearly 50 families each year across the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Richmond, Virginia.
